UEMS represents over 1.6 million medical specialists in all the different specialties. It also has strong links and relations with European Institutions, the other independent European Medical Organisations and the European Medical / Scientific Societies. Its structure consists of a plenary assembly – the Council – and 43 Specialist Sections with their European Boards; an Executive Committee comprising the President, the Secretary-General, the Liaison Officer, and the Treasurer, is responsible for the routine functioning of the organisation. Its scopes include the promotion of free movement of specialists, specialists in training and patients, the harmonisation of the highest level of specialist training and care, as well as the definition of standards in the field of postgraduate specialist training, CME-CPD and quality assurance in specialist medical practice. Other websites of the Section: Section of Radiology Interventional Radiology The Division In an inaugural meeting in Brussels on September 13, 2008, the Division of Neuroradiology” of the Section of Radiology was created. The birth of the Division of Neuroradiology may prove to be the most important event in the history of European Neuroradiology. The Division of Neuroradiology” effectively provides Neuroradiology with a face and voice” in Brussels. We are now recognised as a radiological speciality defined by a training program and a body of knowledge that is specific for Neuroradiology. The Division shares with the parent Section the objectives of promotion and harmonisation of the highest level of training of the medical specialists, medical practice and health care within the European Union and beyond. The proper procedure to appoint a delegation to the Division of Neuroradiology will be for the National Societies of Neuroradiology to contact the member of UEMS in their respective country (National Medical Authority) and propose their choice of delegates to the UEMS Division of Neuroradiology”. It is suggested that each member country appoints two delegates, representing universities and practising neuroradiologists on an equal footing”. They shall be confirmed by their country’s National Medical Association recognised by UEMS.
